conditions will result in ozone concentrations occasionally
reaching the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category on Monday and

for Sensitive Groups category, or worse, due to the wildfire
smoke. For Colorado air quality conditions, forecasts, and
advisories, visit:

possible, please help us reduce ozone pollution by limiting
driving gas and diesel-powered vehicles until at least 4 p.m.

pollution through state policies. For more information about
health impacts and how ozone pollution forms in Colorado, visit:

THIS EVENING...
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has
issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties:
New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Westchester, and Rockland.
until 11 PM EDT this evening.
Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than
an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level
Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to
correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher
the AQI value, the greater the health concern.
When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of
Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous
outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health
effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of
elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with
preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease.
Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal
physician.

Department of Environmental Conservation website at,
https://on.ny.gov/nyaqi, or call the Air Quality Hotline at

WINDBLOWN DUST...
* WHAT...The South Coast AQMD has issued an air quality alert due to
harmful levels of particle pollution from windblown dust. Visit
https://www.aqmd.gov/alertinfo to check current and forecasted air
quality levels.
* WHERE...in the Coachella Valley. Levels of particle pollution can
vary by time and location depending on emissions and local weather
conditions.
* WHEN...until Wednesday morning.
* IMPACTS... Particle pollution can get deep into the lungs and
cause serious health problems such as asthma attacks, heart and lung
disease symptoms, and increased risk of lung infections. Everyone
can be affected, but sensitive groups such as people with lung or
heart disease, older adults, people who are pregnant, children, and
those who spend a lot of time outdoors are at greater risk.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
To protect your health, check air quality levels and act as needed:
* When Air Quality Index (AQI) levels are "Unhealthy for
Sensitive Groups" (orange), sensitive groups as specified
above should limit extended or intense outdoor activity.
* When AQI is "Unhealthy" (red), everyone may experience health
impacts. Sensitive groups should avoid extended time outdoors.
* When AQI is "Very Unhealthy" (purple), sensitive groups should
avoid all outdoor physical activity. Everyone else should
avoid extended or intense outdoor activity.
* When AQI is "Hazardous" (maroon), everyone should avoid all
outdoor physical activity.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
To help keep indoor air clean when air quality is poor:
* Keep windows and doors closed
* Run your air conditioner and/or an air purifier
* Do not use whole house fans or swamp coolers that bring in
outside air if you have other methods to stay cool
* Avoid other sources of pollution such as fireplaces, candles,
incense, grilling, and gasoline-powered lawn and garden
equipment
To help minimize outdoor particle pollution levels:
* Carpool, telecommute, reduce trips, or take public
transportation
* Slow down if driving on dirt roads
* Stabilize loose soils

...OZONE HIGH POLLUTION ADVISORY FOR FLAGSTAFF ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY...
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has issued an
Ozone High Pollution Advisory for Flagstaff on Monday and Tuesday due
to the influence of the Pocket Fire.
This means that forecast weather conditions combined with existing
ozone levels are expected to result in local maximum 8-hour ozone
concentrations that pose a health risk. Adverse health effects
increase as air quality deteriorates.
Ozone is an air contaminant which can cause breathing difficulties
for children, older adults, as well as persons with respiratory
problems. A decrease in physical activity is recommended.
You are urged to car pool, telecommute, or use mass transit. The use
of gasoline-powered equipment should be reduced or done late in the
day.

Pollutants within those areas are expected to be in the
Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range.
The Air Quality Alert is in effect for the following southwestern Michigan
counties:
Berrien.
Warm temperatures, ample sunlight, and southwest winds will mix with
pollutants to produce surface-level ozone in west and southwest
Michigan.
It is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor
activities, especially those with heart disease respiratory
conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing,
coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in nose, throat, or
