Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Fort Worth TX
120 PM CDT Sun Jul 20 2025
...New Short Term, Long Term, Aviation...
.KEY MESSAGES...
- Hot, but near seasonal temperatures will prevail through next
week with highs in the upper 90s to 100 each afternoon.
&&
.SHORT TERM... /NEW/
/Through Monday Night/
Another hot afternoon is in store for the region. Many locations
will reach the upper 90s with the exception of some areas in
Central Texas where dense mid-upper level clouds are still in
place. A diffuse mid-level circulation south of our region may
support a few light showers or isolated storms this afternoon
across the far southern zones, but the drier air in the subcloud
level will prevent most of this activity from reaching the ground.
We kept the rain chances less than 10% to account any short-lived
activity. Otherwise, the breezy south winds will persist through
tomorrow particularly during the afternoon hours where the wind
gusts could reach 20-25 mph at times.
Tomorrow will be very similar to today, but perhaps 1-2 degrees
warmer. The mid-level disturbance will continue to shift westward as
an upper ridge over the southern CONUS expands into our region.
We will see less cloud coverage but the breezy conditions will
help mix the lower levels, keeping the dewpoints in the 60s to
low 70s. While we`re expecting only a few isolated locations to
reach heat index around 105+, make sure to practice heat safety
whenever you are.

.LONG TERM... /NEW/
/Tuesday through Next Weekend/
The long-term forecast remains fairly quiet with mostly dry
conditions and near normal temperatures thanks to the mid-level
ridge dominating the pattern. It looks like our region will
remain in the western periphery of the ridge most of the week
keeping the daily high temperatures mainly in the upper 90s to
near 100 and heat indices between 100-105 degrees. Little to no
rain is expected this week with the exception of some diurnal
convection Friday through Sunday across the far southern zones.

&&
.AVIATION... /NEW/
/18Z TAFs/
No aviation concerns expected the rest of the day with VFR cigs
and breezy south winds. Speeds around 10-15kts with gusts near 25
kt will continue through this evening. The overnight period will
remain fairly quiet before the gusts increase again Monday
morning. Another round of MVFR cigs will move into portions of
Central and East TX tomorrow morning which may briefly impact
Waco. However, confidence of coverage remains too low to mention
it at this time.
