Updated at 619 PM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
- Warm temperatures expected this weekend before cold front
arrives on Sunday.
- Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions return this
weekend.
- Low chances for showers and storms return middle of next week

.NEAR TERM...
(Rest of today and tonight)
Issued at 220 PM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Weak northerly winds will veer through the day as a surface high
moves across the central Plains into the Midwest. Even then,
afternoon highs will only get into the mid 70s across the area.
Clear skies overnight will allow temperatures to get down into the
upper 40s to low 50s.

.SHORT TERM...
(Saturday through Sunday night)
Issued at 220 PM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Mid-level ridging will build into the area this weekend. Lee
troughing along the Rockies will foster a return to southerly
surface winds across the southern Plains. Breezy winds and warm
temperatures are expected on both Saturday and Sunday, with Sunday
afternoon highs exceeding 90 degrees for a majority of the area.
Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions are possible
over the weekend, especially across western Oklahoma and western
north Texas. A cold front is expected to make its way into
northern Oklahoma Sunday evening, pushing through the area by
Monday morning. Cooler temperatures behind the front are expected.

.LONG TERM...
(Monday through Thursday)
Issued at 253 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Increased cloudiness and cooler temperatures are forecast on Monday
following FROPA. A flattened ridge sets up over our region towards
the middle of next week and winds return to the south by Tuesday night.
The return to the WAA regime will allow temperatures to gradually trend
upwards through Wednesday. There is considerable uncertainty with
regards to high temperatures for middle to end of next week, with
10 to 15 deg model spreads within the 25th to 75th percentile
(most reasonable set of solutions).
Low shower and thunderstorm chances return next Tuesday night and
remain through Thursday.

.AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 619 PM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Winds will become predominantly out of the south-southeast
overnight and remain out of the south through the TAF period. An
increasing low-level jet across northwest Oklahoma will give way
to breezy surface winds and a potential for LLWS at WWR/CSM during
the early morning hours. Otherwise, winds are expected to continue
to increase at all sites through the afternoon hours between 15 to
25 knots.
