Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tulsa OK
1255 PM CDT Sat Jul 19 2025
...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, AVIATION...
.KEY MESSAGES...
Issued at 1230 AM CDT Sat Jul 19 2025
- Unseasonably hot and dry conditions will persist over the next
several days across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.
- Heat Advisories are in effect for much of the area today and
tomorrow.
- Additional heat headlines are likely through next week.
&&
.SHORT TERM...
(Through tonight )
Issued at 1247 PM CDT Sat Jul 19 2025
Broad upper-level ridging continues to expand and strengthen over
the region. A hot and humid summer day has already unfolded across
the forecast area, with temperatures currently in the upper 80s and
lower 90s, with heat index values approaching or reaching triple
digits for several areas. A Heat Advisory remains in effect for most
of eastern OK and west-central AR until 8 PM this evening. Be sure
to take frequent breaks and stay hydrated if spending extended
periods of time outdoors through the rest of the afternoon.
A weak area of low pressure across the central Plains will keep
southerly winds somewhat elevated (5-10 mph) tonight. Wind speeds
should be strong enough to prevent any fog from developing, or at
least sustaining, overnight. The presence of the ridge and
southerly winds will also keep temperatures on the mild side,
bottoming out in the mid-upper 70s.

.LONG TERM...
(Tomorrow through Saturday)
Issued at 1247 PM CDT Sat Jul 19 2025
The overall synoptic pattern doesn`t really change too much through
the long-term period. Upper-level ridging will continue to shift
closer to the area and strengthen next week, maintaining hot
temperatures and rain-free weather. Anticipate daily high
temperatures in the mid-upper 90s, to near 100 degrees and heat
index values between 100 and 110 degrees each afternoon, with
nighttime lows in the mid-upper 70s.
Another Heat Advisory has been issued for tomorrow (Sunday) for most
of the forecast area from noon until 8 PM. Benton, Carroll,
Washington, and Madison counties in AR should stay just below
advisory criteria, but some or all of these counties may need to be
added in the next forecast update if temperatures trend any warmer.
Regardless if in the advisory or not, its going to be unseasonably
hot through the entire forecast period and it will be imperative to
keep cool and hydrated if spending a prolonged period outdoors
during the daytime. Additional heat headlines are likely to continue
through next week.

forecast near 2000 feet tonight in parts of the northeast Oklahoma
and sheltered / valley airport locations in northwest Arkansas.
