.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- Frost Tuesday morning, protect sensitive vegetation

Weak instability across northwest Montana has led to scattered
showers and isolated thunderstorms, which will linger through
sunset.

Winds have mixed down drier air, resulting in widespread
dewpoints in the teens and 20s this afternoon. Clear skies are
expected to persist through at least early Tuesday morning.
Combined with the dry airmass, this will support overnight lows in
the mid to low 30s across the Flathead, Mission, Missoula, and
Bitterroot Valleys, as well as higher valleys of north-central
Idaho and western Montana. These conditions will increase the risk
of frost; be sure to protect sensitive vegetation. Another frosty
morning is possible Wednesday.

Looking ahead, global models show general agreement on a continued
northwesterly flow pattern through the work week, with a gradual
warming trend and daily chances for afternoon showers along the
Continental Divide.

&&

.AVIATION...Showers have developed early this afternoon across
northwest Montana including KGPI. Showers and isolated
thunderstorms will last through about 02/0100Z. Shower activity
will be capable of obscuring terrain over the Continental Divide.
Winds this afternoon will become westerly or northwesterly behind
a departing trough of low pressure. Expect gusts of 20-25 mph at
the terminals followed by light winds and clearing skies
overnight.

&&

.MSO WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
MT...Frost Advisory from 2 AM to 8 AM MDT Tuesday for
     Flathead/Mission Valleys...Missoula/Bitterroot Valleys.

ID...Frost Advisory from 2 AM to 8 AM MDT Tuesday for Eastern Lemhi
     County.
