.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 309 PM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025

Tonight and Tomorrow...

Not much to talk about for the near term period regarding tonight.
Global guidance continues to highlight a longwave upper level trough
pattern continuing its eastward push towards the Atlantic coast. At
the same time, a dry cold front over the Lower Tennessee Valley
Region will track southward across our CWA later this evening. This
will help keep dry air locked in for much of the southeast CONUS
which should help keep weather conditions across our area. Winds
will start to diminish later tonight. Sky conditions will be
generally clear across the region heading into the overnight period
which allow for radiational cooling to occur. Expect overnight lows
to drop into the low/mid 40s areawide.

Friday will be generally quiet with a predominately NW flow regime.
Sky cover will once again be clear across our CWA. This combined
with sufficient daytime heating will allow for afternoon highs to
peak into the upper 60s/low 70s.

Saturday Night through next Friday...

A 1024mb sfc high will begin to build over the Midwest/Lower
Tennessee Valley Saturday night. This will help keep weather
conditions quiet through the weekend/early next week. Given the dry
conditions, afternoon RHs are forecasted to drop into the 30-35%
range. This could cause come fire weather concerns so trends will
continued to be monitored as we get closer. Quiet conditions will
continue heading into the new work week as global guidance
highlights a cold front over the ArkLaTex region on Monday. This
cold front should start to push south across the forecast area on
Tuesday. While there is some weak low-level moisture return, the
advancing dry air in the wake of this fast moving cold front
should be enough to limit any pop-up showers from developing. A
isolated strong storm cannot be ruled out for late Tuesday
afternoon into Tuesday evening given that guidance starting to
show steep lapse rates and limited moisture flow.

A 1028mb high pressure system over the Central Plains will track
southeastward over the southeast region keeping conditions quiet
through Wednesday night. Future guidance is beginning to show a
shortwave trough pushing east across the Southern Plains on Thursday
in advance of a digging longwave trough pattern. The positive tilt
orientation of this shortwave trough will allow for some limited
return flow. This could introduce some scattered storm north of Hwy
82. Thursday into Friday, guidance is beginning to show a cold front
that could shift closer to our CWA, however synoptic details could
affect the progression of this front heading into the Easter
weekend. Forecast confidence is low at this point and trends will
continue to be monitored as we get closer. /CR/
