Light winds/dry air under a mostly clear sky in proximity to the
surface ridge drifting from central into eastern Kansas will lead to
a chilly night for the area with lows below freezing. A gradual
moderation/warming trend will take place Friday into Saturday
in the return southerly low level flow under ridging aloft. The
strong flow aloft associated with the upper low off the Pacific
Northwest coast will eventually send a moderately strong
shortwave across the northern Rockies into the northern Plains
Sunday. This looks to send a modified Canadian airmass/cold
front southward across the central Plains late Sunday into
Monday. The coolish airmass will stay in place thru the mid-week
periods under broad, more zonal, westerly flow aloft. The
medium range consensus eventually fills and ejects the upper
low/trof off the Pacific Northwest coast across mid-America
Wednesday into Thursday. The resultant lift along the moistening
baroclinic zone may support scattered/numerous precip across
central and eastern Kansas by late Wednesday into Thanksgiving
Day. While looking like mainly rain, thermal profiles would be
supportive of mixed/wintry precip, especially central Kansas.
