.SHORT TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Issued at 315 PM EDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Upper trough currently over the Ohio Valley will continue to push
eastward this afternoon. Lingering low stratus is starting to show
signs of decreasing from north to south as drier, cooler air
continues to advect in from the north. Sfc high pressure currently
situated over over the Upper Midwest will build in over the Ohio
Valley for tonight and into tomorrow.
As skies clear overnight and winds diminish as the sfc high works
into the region, temperatures are expected to fall into the low/mid
30s overnight thanks to radiational cooling and continued CAA. A few
isolated spots could reach or drop below freezing. With that in
mind, will continue the Frost Advisory across all our CWA.
Sfc high pressure will be right over central KY and southern IN for
the start of the weekend as ridging aloft increases heights over the
Ohio Valley. Winds will be light and northerly but temperatures will
be pleasant but still below seasonal norms in the low 60s to upper
50s.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Issued at 315 PM EDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Saturday Night through Sunday Night...
A ridge of high pressure will be in place at the start of the period
Saturday night. High pressure at the surface is forecast to shift
east to the Appalachians Sunday morning. Saturday night will be
mostly clear, calm, and chilly with lows in the 30s. Low-level SW
return flow advects warmer air into the region on Sunday ahead of a
low pressure system over Midwest. After the chilly start, afternoon
temperatures will warm into the mid 60s to lower 70s.
Low pressure is forecast to deepen over the Upper Midwest Sunday
night just ahead of a potent mid-level trough. A trailing cold front
will extend south into the Mid-MS Valley. We look to stay dry
through Monday morning, but Sunday night will be mild and a bit
breezy ahead of the approaching cold front. Lows should be in the
50s.
Monday through Thursday...
An upper level trough will dig southeast over the Upper Midwest, Mid-
MS Valley, and Ohio Valley Monday and Monday night as the sfc cold
front sweeps southeast through the region. It still appears we`ll
stay mainly dry out ahead of the cold front with a warm capping
layer present in the mid-levels. However, a band of showers and
thunderstorms will be possible along the front Monday afternoon and
evening. Modest low-level moisture return, along with steep mid-
level lapse rates, could support a risk for isolated strong to
severe storms. Deep-layer shear is fairly unidirectional, but strong
at 50-60 kts. Mid-level capping around 700 mb could definitely limit
convective intensity. If strong updrafts are able to develop, the
main threats would be locally damaging winds and hail. A secondary
threat would be a low, but non-zero, tornado risk.
Highs Monday will be in the low-mid 70s with lows Monday night
cooling back into the mid-upper 40s. Looking beyond Tuesday, upper
level troughing will settle across the eastern CONUS with a
northwest flow prevailing across the region. Breezy conditions are
expected on Tuesday with below normal temps as highs struggle to get
out of the upper 50s to around 60. Lows Tuesday night will drop
back into the mid-upper 30s. Dry conditions are expected for
Wednesday with highs in the lower to middle 60s. The next weather
system looks to push into the region on Thursday with showers likely
and highs in the mid-upper 60s.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z SUNDAY/...
Issued at 723 PM EDT Fri Apr 11 2025
The last of the MVFR ceilings is expected to clear RGA within the
next 1-2 hours, with VFR conditions expected through the rest of the
current forecast period. Stratocu with 4-6 kft bases should continue
through the evening, gradually dissipating tonight. Winds will also
relax this evening and should be calm or light out of the north
tonight. There is a chance that some MVFR fog could develop at
BWG/RGA/HNB near dawn; however, this seems unlikely given drier air
moving in from the north.
On Saturday, high pressure moving in from the northwest will promote
light northerly winds and mostly sunny skies. A stratocu field
should develop in the late morning and afternoon; however, cloud
bases should be 5-7 kft.
