.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Issued at 321 PM EDT Tue May 27 2025
A cutoff low will continue to pinwheel over the upper Midwest
through the middle of the week as a weak sfc low currently over
central KY remains over the area over the next 36 hours. It slowly
lifts northeast towards Lake Erie by Thursday morning. We will see
mainly overcast skies with a chance of a few showers, some embedded
thunder and unseasonably cool temperatures for late May. Current
radar has a few light returns across southern IN with a few light
showers stretching from the Lake Cumberland region northward into
the Blue Grass. While most will stay mainly dry this evening and
overnight, a series of vort maximums will work across the area
providing enough lift for a few scattered showers and some isolated
thunderstorms this evening and again early tomorrow morning. The hi-
res models want to keep most of this activity across our southern
and far eastern CWA with a chance of a few light showers as you go
northward.
By tomorrow afternoon, as the sfc low drifts northeast into Ohio, we
expect to see clouds to break and partially clear. Could even see
some sunshine tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures will not drop too far
overnight thanks to the cloud cover with lows in the upper 50s/low
60s. Highs tomorrow will be challenging, depending on how long cloud
cover holds on, expect highs to be in the low/mid 70s across most of
the CWA with upper 70s down around Bowling Green.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Issued at 321 PM EDT Tue May 27 2025
Wednesday Night through Friday Night...
As the sfc low over Ohio works over Lake Erie and into the northeast
CONUS Wednesday night into Thursday, an area of high pressure builds
in over the area giving us a bit of a break from the wet weather.
While we expect to be mostly dry through most of the day Thursday,
precipitation chances start to increase Thursday afternoon into
Thursday night. Closed upper low over the Upper Midwest will work
into the Great Lakes by Thursday as a deepening trough axis swings
through Thursday night into Friday. As the upper trough swings
through the region Friday, a weak sfc low will develop over the TN
Valley and work over the Ohio Valley during the day Friday. This
will bring another round of showers and a few thunderstorms for the
end of the week. Average highs this time of year are generally
around 80 degrees, we will be close to that on Thursday before we
see highs back in the upper 60s to low 70s on Friday.
Saturday through Monday...
Deep troughing will setup over the eastern CONUS through the
weekend. This will place the Ohio Valley under northwesterly flow
aloft. A weak sfc cold front is expected to drop southward over
central IN into southern IN by Sunday morning. While we could see a
few shower chances over the weekend, the trend is for drier weather,
especially on Saturday with just scattered showers possible on
Sunday. Temperatures will be near normal during this time.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z THURSDAY/...
Issued at 651 AM EDT Wed May 28 2025
As a surface low swings through the region this morning, CIGs and
VIS have deteriorated. Light rain continues over the region and may
bring brief, very light rain to the terminals. As the low pressure
pushes off to the northeast, CIGs will improve by this afternoon
from southwest to northeast. In the overnight, winds will become
calm to light and fog is likely at BWG/RGA/LEX/HNB and possible as
SDF.
