.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 305 AM MDT Mon May 4 2026

Will have minor instability today and expect nothing more than
isolated mainly mountain showers and thunderstorms this
afternoon. Will get a strengthening low pressure system to the
south and northerly flow aloft sets up Tuesday with a back door
cold front moving through. After extremely warm highs in the 70s
lower elevations today and 60s mountains will see significant
cooling Tuesday with about a 10 to 15 degree temperature drop.
Some impacts will be a likely Lake Wind Advisory for American
Falls Reservoir Tuesday in strong northeast flow, and the
potential for more freeze warnings Wednesday morning behind the
cold front. The threat for showers will end Tuesday night with
dry conditions expected Wednesday. The cooler conditions will
continue through Wednesday then another significant warming
trend sets up Thursday into Friday. Low elevation highs back
into the 70s. Will see a chance of showers Saturday with another
upper level system. Through next Monday will see changing
temperatures but mainly above normal into next week. Will have
intermittent breezy conditions but no significant winds
expected in the long term period.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z TUESDAY/...
Issued at 941 PM MDT Sun May 3 2026

VFR conditions will continue throughout tonight and most of Monday.
Very little cloud cover will be found tonight, but it will begin to
increase on Monday. Shower and thunderstorm chances will increase
Monday afternoon into the evening as we get more influence with
general troughing over the area as a low moves to our south. Given
that we have a low, but widespread chance of showers and
thunderstorms at all TAF sites except BYI tomorrow, have added more
PROB30 or VCSH with this issuance. Max wind gusts with a storm look
to be around 30 kts.

.PIH WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
None.
