.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Wednesday)
Issued at 303 PM EDT Tue Apr 15 2025
The cold front continues to advance southward through central
Georgia this afternoon. Any isolated showers ahead of the front
has come to an end. Behind the front, winds have shifted to NW at
15-20 mph with gusts between 25-35 mph. These winds will continue
through the afternoon and begin to gradually diminish after
sunset. Cooler temperatures and drier air are also returning in
the wake of the front. Highs this afternoon are forecast to be in
the 60s in areas north and west of Atlanta. Elsewhere across the
area, where cooler air has not had as much time to settle in,
highs will rise into the 70s. Continued to trend towards the lower
end of the guidance for dewpoints to better capture the drier
post-frontal airmass. Because of this, minimum RH values this
afternoon will range from 20-25 percent across north Georgia and
portions of central Georgia. A Fire remains in effect for much of
the area this afternoon and evening given the combination of low
RH, winds, and dry fuels. Have held off so far on issuing a Red
Flag Warning given many locations across the forecast area have
`greened-up` for the season.
A cooler and drier airmass will continue to filter in behind the
front tonight. Low temperatures on early Wednesday morning will
range from the upper 30s to mid 40s. Surface high pressure will
become centered over the southeast during the daytime tomorrow,
which will promote clear skies and benign weather throughout the
day. Afternoon highs will mainly range from the mid 60s in far
northeast Georgia to the mid 70s in central Georgia. Once again
blended in hi-res guidance and the NBM 10th percentile into the
dewpoints to account for the drier airmass, bringing minimum RH
values to under 25 percent tomorrow afternoon. Though winds will
be lighter than today, another Fire Danger Statement will likely
be needed for low RH values and dry fuels. The airmass will begin
to moderate Wednesday night into Thursday morning as the surface
high moves to the east of Georgia and winds shift from NW to SE.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday morning through next Monday)
Issued at 303 PM EDT Tue Apr 15 2025
Key Messages:
- Fire danger conditions possible on Thursday.
- Warming trend through the weekend.
- Rain chances return early next week.
After a sunny, rain-free short term period, fuels will remain dry
heading into the long term period. As a result, fire danger
conditions will be possible on Thursday, as relative humidity is
currently forecast to drop to 25% or lower (a critical threshold
for land management partners) across portions of the CWA.
Following the mild temperatures in the short term period, the
long term period will bring a warming trend. Highs in the 70s and
lower 80s on Thursday will give way to highs in the 80s to
possibly lower 90s over the weekend.
A mid-/upper-level ridge will prevail over the Southeast through
the weekend. A low pressure system associated with a mid-/upper-
level trough traversing the Great Lakes region and southeastern
Canada could have a trailing cold front that impinges on the
Tennessee River Valley, but weak (if any) forcing should limit
precipitation across the CWA. The Bermuda High placement will
support southerly near-surface flow across the Southeast, driving
warm air northward from the Gulf/tropics. The ensemble guidance
suggests the development of a secondary low pressure system
somewhere over the Mississippi River Valley Sunday into Monday as
a shortwave trough lifts from the Desert Southwest to the Great
Lakes. Like the previous forecast package, have slight chance to
chance PoPs (and thunder) Monday morning through Tuesday evening.
These current PoPs may increase or decrease in later forecast
packages depending on the evolution of the shortwave/low and its
accompanying moisture in subsequent model runs.

(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 726 PM EDT Tue Apr 15 2025

the next few hours. Will see these speeds increase back into the
87-12kt range with gust to 20kt during the day Wed. Wind speeds
