Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
820 PM EDT Wed May 14 2025
...New UPDATE, AVIATION...
.UPDATE...
Issued at 820 PM EDT Wed May 14 2025
A quiet evening across the region with mostly clear skies and warm
temperatures. Some patchy fog is expected late tonight into early
Thursday morning, otherwise another warm dry day will be on tap
for Thursday as high pressure continues to dominate. Temperatures
will climb back into the lower and middle 90s over inland areas
Thursday afternoon while the sea breeze keeps coastal areas
several degrees cooler in the middle to upper 80s. Current
forecast looks on track with no changes planned.

.AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 820 PM EDT Wed May 14 2025
VFR conditions are anticipated through the forecast period. Some
patchy fog is possible, but mainly at LAL and PGD. Winds will
become light later this evening, then southeast to south at around
5 knots Thursday morning, then shifting to southwest to west at
7 to 10 knots Thursday afternoon as the sea breeze moves inland.
&&
.DISCUSSION...
Troughing remains aloft over the eastern part of the country this
afternoon while surface high pressure over the Atlantic extends
westward over Florida. The upper-level trough will shift eastward
over the next couple of days, with heights then rising over the
region. Strong high pressure aloft will then take hold over the
Gulf this weekend through next week, keeping above normal
temperatures and low rain chances in the forecast.
&&
.MARINE...
Westerly flow will remain over the waters through today, then high
pressure will lift north, leading to south and southeast winds for
the central and southern waters through the weekend. No headlines
are expected and rain chances remain low.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
No fire weather concerns as relative humidity values will remain
above critical levels. No significant fog is expected.
