.SHORT TERM...
(Rest of today through Friday)
Issued at 1202 PM EDT Thu Apr 17 2025
Dry conditions will persist through the end of the work-week as
surface high pressure remains in control and the region remains
under upper level ridging. Outside of some scattered cumulus clouds
across the metro, mostly clear skies expected today. Afternoon high
temps will range from the lower 80s across the east coast metro to
upper 80s over SW FL. Overnight lows will range from around 60 over
the interior and SW FL, to around 70 closer to the Atlantic coast.
On Friday the surface high will slide further away from the Mid-
Atlantic coast into the western Atlantic, and the pressure gradient
locally with tighten. This will result in breezy easterly winds
gusting to around 25 mph from late morning through the afternoon.
High temps will again be in the lower 80s across the east coast
metro to upper 80s over SW FL.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday night through Wednesday)
Issued at 318 AM EDT Thu Apr 17 2025
Moving into the weekend, the forecast will continue to be heavily
influenced by the strong Atlantic surface high, as well as the upper
level ridging. The surface high will prevent much needed moisture
with model guidance forecasting approximately 60-70% of normal
precipitable water and afternoon dew points in the low 60s in South
Florida. Therefore, even with the easterly breeze and warm
temperatures, conditions are expected to remain dry and stable
throughout the weekend and early next week. There will be a slow
warming trend bringing high temperatures into the mid-to-upper 80s
across a majority of the region, with a potential for abnormal low
90s across SW Florida by Sunday. Overnight temperatures will be cool
and comfortable, with outgoing longwave radiation and little sky
coverage, allowing for lows to drop into the 60s, except low 70s
along the east coast. With very dry air and very dry fuels
regionwide, winds and RH values will be watched carefully as the
conditions will be prime for ignition and rapid burns.
As model guidance continues to project potential for the ridging to
break down and become more of a zonal flow early next week. However,
there will not be a sufficient increase in the moisture levels with
the air mass still projected to be too dry for precipitation.
Therefore, dry and stable conditions are likely to continue through
early next week and breezy easterly wind flow for most of it. As the
ridge weakens and moving further into the mid-week, modest moisture
increases may allow for potential for rain to return to the
forecast. However, uncertainty is still high with due to the extent
of the forecast period.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1202 PM EDT Thu Apr 17 2025
Mainly VFR through the 18Z TAF period. E/NE winds 10-15 kts across
the east coast metro, with a brief gulf breeze expected this
afternoon at APF. Easterly winds back off to under 10 kts late
this evening. Breezy easterly winds expected after 15Z Friday with
gusts of 20-25 kts possible.
&&
.MARINE...
Issued at 1202 PM EDT Thu Apr 17 2025
Gentle to moderate east to northeasterly winds today across the
local waters. Seas in the Atlantic 2-4 ft and seas in the Gulf 2 ft
or less. Pressure gradient tightens on Friday which moderate to
fresh easterly winds. A period of hazardous winds and seas is likely
across the Atlantic waters from late Friday through early Sunday.
&&
.BEACHES...
Issued at 1202 PM EDT Thu Apr 17 2025
Moderate northeasterly flow will result in an elevated risk of rip
currents today for the Atlantic beaches. As the flow becomes more
easterly and strengthens beginning Friday, a high risk of rip
currents is expected for the Atlantic beaches through at least
Sunday.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 1205 PM EDT Thu Apr 17 2025
Dry air remains settled across the region today. Min RH values of
30-35% are expected this afternoon over inland SW FL. While winds
will be light, the low RH values combined with persistent dry
weather and fuels will result in enhanced fire wx concerns today.
