.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 245 PM EDT Tue Aug 12 2025
A moist southerly flow will continue tonight into tomorrow with
the highest storm chances across southwest Florida up through
inland/interior west central Florida. Scattered thunderstorms are
expected into this evening as PWAT levels sit between 1.8 to 2.0,
which is indicative of convection that could produce heavy
rainfall, but storm motions toward the north of 15 to 20 mph will
limit overall amounts.
By Thursday, we start to see the regime shift to a more neutral flow
with lighter winds allowing the sea breeze to develop and move
inland further. This weaker-steering flow favors slower moving
afternoon and evening convection which heighten the risk for
localized flooding.
A light east to northeast flow is expected Friday into Saturday
with slow moving convection and heavy downpours remaining
possible. Early next week models depict differing scenarios with
the GFS being rather wet, and the ECMWF not as much. Either way
the light east to northeast flow appears to continue with more
scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms each day.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 245 PM EDT Tue Aug 12 2025
VFR conditions are expected to prevail through the TAF period.
Southeast to south winds 5 to 10 knots will shift to southwest
near the coast this afternoon, become light later this evening,
then southerly 5 to 10 knots by late morning Wednesday. MVFR/local
IFR conditions will be possible in scattered showers and
thunderstorms into this evening, and again from around midday
Wednesday into Wednesday evening, along with gusty and erratic
winds.
&&
.MARINE...
Issued at 245 PM EDT Tue Aug 12 2025
South to southwest flow will continue into Thursday south of a
weakening boundary moving into north Florida. This boundary will
wash out with high pressure building in from the north shifting
winds to a more east to northeast late in the week into the
weekend, but remaining less than 15 knots. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms will be possible through the period with the best
chances during the nighttime and early morning hours.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 245 PM EDT Tue Aug 12 2025
Ample low-level moisture remains to support high relative humidity
values with winds 10 mph or less, except in the vicinity of showers
and thunderstorms. Fire weather concerns will remain low for the
remainder of the week.
