- Northerly breezes near the coastline through the weekend.

- Hotter temperatures over the holiday weekend.

.SYNOPSIS...Northerly breezes will persist along the coastline
through the weekend into the first half of next week. Temperatures
will warm into the weekend with interior valley high temperatures in
the mid to high 90s.

.DISCUSSION...Synoptic scale troughing passes north of California
with most of the effects over British Columbia, allowing the heat
dome to fester near the four corners which is forecast to spread
diurnally for the next few days during peak heat hours for the
daytime hours. This will continue to aggravate fire conditions
for active wildfires in Utah, Colorado, and the southwestern US.
Locally we are seeing higher temperatures near the usual areas
like Big Bar 100, Ruth 93, Hayfork 94, Ukiah 95. Guidance for
Heatrisk are sparse and therefore products are not foreseen at
this time although a heating trend is expected by Wednesday and
Thursday of next week. This will primarily be focused in the North
Valley areas near Redding, Red Bluff, and Chico.

Otherwise, moisture from tropical system Douglas off Baja,
California will be drawn northward Sunday and Monday as the
previously mentioned trough nudges down from the Pacific Northwest.
The elevated moisture available for thunderstorm development still
looks to stay mainly east of Trinity County through the Sacramento
Valley and mid-level lapse rates are weak. This will still bear
watching if higher moisture is forecast, or a farther west extent is
modeled. Northeast pacific troughing will then weaken the SW high
and lower temperatures some. /EYS /RPA

.AVIATION...Ceilings are beginning to lift at KCEC as of 21z as
well as scatter out from the persistent overcast and sub 700 foot
ceilings from the morning. KACV has not faired as well with LIFR
flight categories continuing through the afternoon and with MOS
and GFS guidance suggesting LIFR continue into the evening with
sub 300 foot ceilings although visibility is not hindered until
the 13-16z hours. Southerly winds return to both terminals by 4-5z
and will strengthen the idea of lower visibility and stratus. VFR
conditions continue to persist at KUKI. /EYS

.MARINE...Northerly winds along the coast continue just under 10
kts near the coast as a thermal trough strengthens over the
interior, veering to southerly and variable in the late evening
hours. Thus, small craft advisories remain in place over the outer
waters zones. The gradient will tighten slightly Saturday night
into Sunday and gusts to near gale will be possible in the
northern outer waters for a 18-24 hour period. Otherwise, a
deepening trough off the Pacific Northwest will finally disturb
the pressure gradient enough that small crafts may be able to
fully end early next week. /RPA
