.KEY MESSAGES...
* A warming trend begins today with above normal temperatures
through the week and upcoming weekend.
* Gusty winds, fire weather conditions, and slight chances of
showers for northeast California and northwest Nevada may return
late this week.
* The Memorial Day Weekend looks dry and warm, but a few stray
showers can`t be ruled out, especially in the mountains.

.DISCUSSION...
The theme for this week will be dry and warm weather. It will feel
like early summer all week long. Temperatures will quickly warm
up over the next two days, and then remain fairly constant from
mid-week into the weekend. Therefore, expect 70s over western NV
and northeast CA valleys, and upper 60s over Sierra valley
communities. Then afternoon highs increase to mid to upper 80s for
western NV and NE CA, while Sierra valley communities rise to the
mid 70s by mid-week and beyond. After Wednesday, temperatures
will be generally 5-10 degrees above normal for this time of the
year.
There are a couple of very weak shortwave troughs passing through
the north of our area Wednesday through Saturday. The main concern
will be gusty winds especially over mountain areas, low relative
humidity, and slight chances (10-15%) of showers over portions of
northeast CA and northwestern NV likely on Thursday and Friday.
Elevated fire weather conditions are likely on these days due to
the combination of very dry conditions, warm temperatures, and
gusty winds. The minimum relative humidity will be mostly in the
teens and single digits across W NV, NE CA, and the lower
elevations of the Sierra. The min RH over the higher elevations of
the Sierra will be in the lower 20% range.
This weekend still looks to be warm and dry as an upper ridge
arrives to the region. However, some ensembles are showing a
trough quickly approaching by Memorial Day. Therefore, we have
some uncertainty for early next week about how warm and dry it
will be. However, the trend appears to still be dry and warm. The
NV Basin and Range has a 15-35% chance of seeing afternoon highs
reaching 90F. These chances are lower compared to yesterday, which
indicates the uncertainty brought with the trough showing up in
the last model runs.

.AVIATION...
VFR conditions continue through Tuesday morning. There is a 10-20%
chance for FG to develop at KTRK through 14Z this morning. Winds
will be generally light and VRB overnight and early AM, then
become from the NW between 10-15 kts with gusts up to 25 kts
after 17Z. Winds subside around sunset at TAF terminals and
valleys. Similar conditions persist through the week.
