.KEY MESSAGES...
* Dry and breezy conditions with near average temperatures today.
* The holiday weekend continues to favor warm and dry conditions.

continued high Sierra snowmelt.
* Another low pressure system Monday will bring light shower and
thunderstorm chances along the OR border.

.DISCUSSION...
Lighter winds, dry conditions, and near normal temperatures
expected today to kick off the holiday weekend! Highs will be in
the upper 70s for locations across W NV with highs in the upper
60s for Sierra communities. However, the passage of a second
shortwave trough today brings a 10-15% chance of showers and
thunderstorms near the Oregon border this afternoon and evening.
Similar chances for showers and thunderstorms move south towards
the Eastern Sierra on Saturday as the trough becomes a low. These
are very low probabilities, but they are not zero.
By Sunday, afternoon high temperatures will be a solid 10 degrees
above normal. Rivers and streams will look appealing for those
looking to cool off but exhibit caution, they`ll be running fast
and cold due to high Sierra snowmelt.
Another disturbance off the coast of N CA will drop temperatures a
bit Monday, and will bring light shower and thunderstorm chances
along the OR border. Afternoon wind gusts also pick up a bit, but
will be more zephyr-like in nature. Beyond Monday, high pressure
sets back up along the Pac NW-Canadian border, letting afternoon
highs heat back up.

.AVIATION...
Widespread VFR conditions through this weekend with lighter winds
(gusts up to 20-25 kts) today. Saturday and beyond, typical
zephyr-like breezes return.

&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
Elevated fire weather conditions yesterday have since backed off
but dry conditions will remain in place through the holiday
weekend. Minimum RHs will range between 9-19% for much of W NV
and southward to eastern Mono County. Meanwhile, the Tahoe Basin
and northward can expect min RHs of 15-25%. For anyone celebrating
the holiday outside this weekend, exhibit caution with any activities
that may cause fires or a spark. This includes camp fires,
sparklers, dragging trailer chains, and target shooting.
