.DISCUSSION...Satellite shows that low clouds are in the Umpqua
Basin and the clouds that were near the Rogue Valley are starting
to burn off. Low clouds and fog has made its way into parts of
the Coquille Basin and at the Coos County coast at North Bend.
These clouds will help temperatures not cool as much this morning
with forecast lows in the 30s and 40s west side and 20s east. The
Shasta/Scott valleys were an area of concern with the low
temperatures expected to reach the mid-30s there this morning.
However, there is a lower frost chance with these temperatures, so
no cold weather products have been issued.

The low clouds will burn off through the morning, and it will be
another day of near normal temperatures. The Curry County coast will
see the largest jump in temperatures, coming from mid-50s yesterday
to mid-60s today. Inland, highs this afternoon will be in the 60s
for west side with more 60s east. There will be an increase in mid-
/high level clouds this afternoon, but no precipitation is expected
from it.

The increase in clouds will come in handy tonight with lows tonight
forecast to be slightly warmer. This will bring more 40s west side
and 30s east for Friday morning. Friday afternoon will have another
slight warm up as more areas west of the Cascades will reach 70
degrees and east will be in the 60s. Medford has a 50-60% chance to
see 70 degrees tomorrow and Klamath Falls will also have a 50-60%
chance to see 65 degrees.

Ridging builds at the start of the weekend and near to slightly
above normal temperatures are forecast Saturday. This will get highs
to the mid-70s in west side valleys and 60s to near 70 elsewhere!
Enjoy it while it lasts because Sunday a trough moves in and brings
rain chances with cooler temperatures once again. Snow levels during
that time are forecast to fall to 5,000`-5,500` once again. The
highest confidence still lies in the precipitation continuing
through Sunday afternoon. The latest models are showing more
agreement that the rain/snow could end later Sunday/into Sunday
night. For now, the forecast for Sunday night/Monday shows that the
chances will stay in Southern Oregon and stay the longest near the
Cascades and in Douglas and Coos counties. Drier conditions could
return in the middle of next week after the Sunday-Monday system.

.AVIATION...16/12Z...LIFR conditions are present at the Coos
County coast with fog at North Bend. MVFR to IFR conditions are
possible in parts of Curry County, including near Brookings, early
this morning with satellite showing more development.

Clouds banked against the east side of the Umpqua Basin may affect
Roseburg and these clouds are building westward as of 3 AM. Low
clouds have been burning off in more parts of the Rogue Valley,
meaning that the Medford site has a higher chance to remain VFR this
morning. Satellite imagery also shows stratus in other valleys and
basins across northern California and east of the Cascades.

Skies across the area will clear later this morning, with mid-
/high clouds moving over the area from north to south in the
afternoon. Flight levels look to remain at VFR, with normal diurnal
breezes expected. -TAD

.MARINE...Updated 300 AM PDT Thursday, October 16, 2025...North
winds increase this afternoon and remain through Friday night with
steep seas building south of Cape Blanco. Also, a long period swell
is expected to build Friday afternoon into Saturday. Steep seas are
likely across all waters Friday night through Saturday. Very high
and steep swell dominated seas are then likely behind a cold front
Sunday afternoon through Monday night. -DW

.BEACH HAZARDS...Updated 300 AM PDT Thursday, October 16,
2025...We`re heading into the time of year where distant storms
generate swells with long periods. These long-period swells harbor
more energy than a typical set of waves and have the ability to run
up much farther on the beaches. Model guidance is showing a long-
period swell (9-11 ft at ~17-19 seconds) arriving Friday afternoon,
with the hazard peaking during the night, and lasting through the
Saturday morning. This will pose a threat for sneaker waves at area
beaches. We call them "sneaker waves" because they aren`t
particularly large or even high waves, but because they exhibit such
high energy, they can suddenly wash over rocks, logs and jetties
