.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

.Morning Update...

The storm system from yesterday has moved over the state of
Nevada. Leftover moisture in the lower levels continues to prompt
light showers across western parts of San Diego County that will
continue to weaken this morning. A drying trend is seen on
satellite as clearer conditions across the LA Basin are expected
to push southward into the afternoon hours. High temperatures
will still remain well below average today with highs 5-10 degrees
below normal near the coast and up to 20 degrees below average
inland. Highs west of the mountains into the high desert will be
mainly in the 60s with comfortable readings in the 70s from Indio
to Borrego Springs. Dry weather will continue into the upcoming
weekend as temperatures climb to near normal.

.Previous Discussion (243 AM Wednesday)...

.SHORT TERM (Today through Friday)...
A low pressure system will continue to move inland through the
Great Basin today. For Friday and Saturday, there will be high
pressure aloft over southern California with a large cutoff low
pressure system centered well off the coast of northern Baja.
Residual showers over the southern California coastal waters
moving into southwestern California are expected to end during
this morning.

High temperatures are expected to warm through Saturday
with the warming continuing into Sunday for the deserts. The
greatest warming is expected on Thursday. With the warming, high
temperatures on Friday will be a few degrees below average to as
much as 4 to 8 degrees below average for the mountains and high
desert. High temperatures on Friday will range from the lower to
mid 70s near the coast to the upper 70s to mid 80s for the Inland
Empire with the mid to upper 80s for the lower deserts.

&&

.LONG TERM (Saturday through Tuesday)...
The warming trend will continue into Saturday and into Sunday for
the deserts with high temperatures on Saturday a few degrees
above average for the coast and valleys and a few degrees below
average for the deserts into the mountains.

For early next week, there is much larger spread in the evolution
of the pattern along the coasts of California and Baja. There
should be at least a few degrees of cooling for Monday and
Tuesday.
