.KEY MESSAGES...
* Dry weather prevails through early next week with above average
daytime temperatures and typical chilly nights.
* Light winds and valley inversions will keep hazy skies and air
quality reductions this week, with patchy freezing fog in some
Sierra valleys.
* Sierra ridges can expect periodic breezy to gusty east winds
through Friday, mainly during the night and morning hours.

.DISCUSSION...
The current weather regime will continue through the foreseeable
future, forecast-wise (7 days) with dry conditions and warming
temps. With high pressure building over the PacNW, this will allow
for wide temperature swings (25+ degrees) between overnight lows
and afternoon highs, light winds, valley inversions, and mostly
clear skies.
But with weather, we know there are some exceptions. These will
include freezing fog for fog-prone Sierra valleys such as the
Martis valley and around Mono Lake. Visibilities may drop below
a quarter mile at times, most likely in the morning hours, before
the sun rises. This may produce slick roads, and even some
depositing snow around Mono Lake, specifically. With those
aformentioned valley inversions, any areas that are remotely
close to water (a lake, a stream, agricultural areas, etc.) may
see localized fog/freezing fog in the mornings.
An additional exception will be gusty east winds along Sierra
ridges. Wind gusts may reach up to 45 mph at time and may produce
impacts for air travel and backcountry recreation. However, the
main time frame for these winds will be in the late afternoon
hours through early morning.

.AVIATION...
VFR conditions expected for all terminals through the rest of the
week with light winds. The only exception will be KTRK where
patchy FZFG may develop each night between 06Z-18Z. Increased east
winds (up to 45 kts) along ridgetops may produce localized LLWS
over the Sierra.
