.DISCUSSION...

.SYNOPSIS...
Warming and drying trend expected to continue into the weekend
with widespread Moderate HeatRisk Friday through the weekend.
Temperatures return to near normal by midweek next week.

&&

.KEY MESSAGES...

*Today-Thursday:
 - Gradual warming and drying trend continues as Desert Southwest
   and East Pacific ridging amplifies.
 - Periodically breezy onshore flow persists as split flow aloft
   remains over interior NorCal.
 - Near to slightly above normal high temperatures expected with
   widespread 90s through the Valley, Delta, and foothills.

*Friday-Monday:
 - Temperatures warm above normal through the weekend, with
   accompanying Moderate HeatRisk across the Valley and foothills.
 - Probability of high temperatures > 100F:
   --Northern Sacramento Valley: 70-100%
   --Valley/foothills elsewhere: 50-80%
 - Dry weather and onshore flow to continue giving some relief
   from the Delta breeze over the Delta to Southern Sacramento
   Valley area.
 - North winds Friday and Saturday early morning may see
   localized areas of warmer overnight temperatures so please
   continue to exercise heat safety through the weekend.
 - With the heat and low RHs, minor elevated fire weather
   conditions exist for the Northern Sac. Valley Friday-Saturday.

*Later Next Week:
 - East Pacific ridge axis aloft looks to amplify further
   westward toward the Gulf of Alaska into next week.
 - Gradual cooling trend expected across interior NorCal with
   seasonable temperatures and periodically breezy onshore flow
   returning.

.Changes from previous forecast...
- No major changes from previous forecast.

&&
