.KEY MESSAGES...

* Isolated shower and thunderstorm activity possible across various
parts of the forecast area, with best chances in our eastern zones
  mid-to-late week.

.DISCUSSION...through early next week.

Another hot summer afternoon is underway, with regional
temperatures running near or slightly above where they were this
time yesterday. Similar conditions are expected again tomorrow,
with only very slight cooling of a degree or two in response to
weak troughing approaching northern California. Given the very
modest cooling expected, and the fact that temperatures will still
remain well above normal, extended the heat advisories and extreme
heat warnings one more day to account for moderate to major heat
risk that still persists through tomorrow evening.

Aside from the heat, a few very weak showers and perhaps a few
lightning strikes will be possible across the Sierra and
Esmeralda county today and tomorrow during the afternoon and
evening hours. Not expecting much in the way of significant impact
with this activity, though gusty winds and dry lightning strikes
would be the main concerns, though overall the risk will remain
fairly low. By Thursday, deepening southerly flow ahead of a weak
trough across California will spread low-grade monsoonal moisture
into our eastern zones, mainly across far southern Nevada, the
eastern Mojave Desert, and Northwest Arizona. Guidance remains
uncertain exactly how far west the moisture will spread, but best
chances remain focused across Mohave County. Initial storm
activity may feature some dry lightning, but storms will tend to
moisten quickly by Friday as deeper moisture spreads northward.
Main threats Thursday through Saturday with storms across our
eastern zones will be locally gusty winds and brief downpours.
Drier air will spread back in by Sunday, but a more favorable
monsoon pattern may develop by the middle of next week.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 00Z Forecast Package...Light
east or southeast winds will continue through this evening with a
stray gust or two to 15 knots. Winds will shift to the southwest
by sunset. Temperatures will exceed 100F until around 05z, with a
peak around 111F. Similar conditions resume tomorrow with
southerly breezes of 10-12 knots expected during the afternoon.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 00Z Forecast Package...Winds will follow
typical daily patterns with speeds of less than 10 knots through
Wednesday morning. Although thunderstorm activity is not expected
in the vicinity of KBIH, outflow from thunderstorms over the
Sierra and White Mountains may reach the terminal in the
afternoon, causing brief changes in wind speed and direction.
Outside of convection, mid and upper level clouds pass through the
area today. Breezy south to southwesterly winds are expected
Wednesday with slightly greater thunderstorm coverage near KBIH.

&&

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
procedures.
