Dry and warm weather with areas of Minor HeatRisk. Nonzero chance
of isolated light showers or brief thunderstorm this afternoon
over the northern Sacramento Valley and southern Cascades,
followed by breezy north winds this weekend. Above-normal
temperatures continue through next week.

.Key Messages...

* Today:

-Warm weather with areas of Minor HeatRisk in the Valley

    -Dry weather continues except slight chance of showers or
     brief thunderstorm across portions of the northern
     Sacramento Valley and southern Cascades this afternoon and
     evening

* Saturday - Sunday:

-Warmer than normal temperatures continue

-Breezy north winds develop, breeziest on Sunday

-Probability of northerly Wind Gusts > 40 mph: 15-30%, highest
     in the western Sacramento Valley

* Monday - Friday:

-Above-normal temperatures will continue heading into next week
     with Minor HeatRisk in the Valley and foothills.

-Potential for light shower or thunderstorm over the Sierra Crest
     Tuesday-Friday afternoon, although confidence is low

.Changes from previous forecast...

* Northerly wind gust forecast continues to trend lower for
  Saturday & Sunday

* Increased chances for isolated afternoon thunderstorm
  development along the Sierra crest Tuesday through Friday.

.AVIATION...

Predominantly VFR conditions expected over the next 24 hours at
TAF sites with generally light winds less than 12 kts anticipated
through 16Z Saturday. West to north winds up to 12 kts will be
possible in the northern San Joaquin Valley until 06Z Saturday.
Additionally, there is a 10-20% chance of isolated thunderstorms
over Shasta and Tehama counties this evening (03-07Z Saturday).

North wind gusts 15 to 20 kts expected after 16Z Saturday through
the northern and central Sacramento Valley.
