.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 217 PM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025

In the upper lvls, a H500 digging trof is progged to be positioned
over the Eastern region of the CONUS with an amplified ridge over
the Western region of the CONUS, and resultant northwesterly flow
over Arkansas which will be present to begin the forecast period
into the weekend. Into early next week, a second trof will dig over
the Eastern region of the CONUS with an associated positively-tilted
trof axis; however, this feature is projected to remain too far off
to our northeast to effectively impact the weather across Arkansas.
In the latter part of the week, a closed low will move over the
Northern Plains region of the CONUS and dive toward the Mid-South
region of the CONUS.

At the sfc, a region of surface high pressure will meander around
the region throughout the weekend. Into Monday, a dry cold front
will move from northwest to southeast across the state. Surface high
pressure will once again occupy the region behind the FROPA into
Tuesday and Wednesday. Finishing out the week, we will visit our
next opportunity at showers and thunderstorms across the CWA and
state of Arkansas as a warm front will lift across Arkansas during
the day on Thursday with a quick-moving cold front progged to sweep
across the state from Thursday into next Friday.

Expect a quiet weather pattern overall between this evening through
the middle of next week. Dry conditions are forecast over this
period with temperatures near to just above normal; the dry cold
front that moves through the state on Monday will equate to cooler
temperatures that will be felt during the day on Tuesday and
Wednesday which will be normal for this time of the year.

The quiet weather overall for the CWA and state will come to an end
late Wednesday night through the day on Friday as PoP chances will
increase overall and the tandem surface features of a lifting warm
front and sweeping cold front will provide ample opportunity for
shower and thunderstorm activity to return to the forecast. In
question to specifics, this target of opportunity remains to far on
the horizon to nail down any particular hazards or even the
possibility of severe weather with confidence; however, it`s
important to remember that we are entering mid-April. As far as
total rainfall amounts from Wednesday night through next Friday look
scant as forecast amounts look to be in the range of a trace amount
across southwestern Arkansas and a quarter to one-half inch across
the remainder of the state.

A few notes with regard to the end of the forecast period and
looking ahead. A strong signal for an unsettled weather pattern does
remain into late April which will provide more opportunity for
showers and thunderstorms. However, for the issuance of this
forecast package, QPF through next Friday looks to remain in the
range between a trace amount and a half inch. Hopefully, this
forecast continues to remain on track where we can continue to move
copious amounts of water efficiently through our several river
basins which do contain several gages that remain above flood stage
and others that have fallen out of flood stage, but saw considerable
and in some cases catastrophic flooding only days ago. Simply put,
it will be a welcome sign to dry out through at least later next
week and provide our rivers the chance to fall.
