By 8:00 p.m. NST tonight departing low 961 mb located southeast
of Greenland.
At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight deepening low 996 mb located south of
Nova Scotia.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Monday low 955 mb located over northeastern
Newfoundland.
At 10:00 a.m. NST today ridge located on a line northwest-southeast
over Cabot Strait.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Monday dissipating ridge located on a line
northwest-southeast over Belle Isle Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:51 AM NST 14 December 2025 An intense low pressure system southeast of Greenland will continue
eastward today and depart this evening. Strong to gale force westerly
winds over eastern waters will diminish through the day as the low
pulls away.
Meanwhile, a second intensifying low pressure system will approach
the marine district tonight to lie over Northeastern Newfoundland by
Monday evening. Gale force southwesterly winds will develop over the
Southern Grand Banks this evening. Gale to storm force easterly to
northerly winds will develop north of the low on Monday. Winds over
all waters will then shift to gale to storm force southwest to
northwesterlies as the low tracks over Newfoundland Monday evening.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Southwest Coast, South Coast, East Coast - Cape St. Francis and
south, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank and the Grand Banks.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, and
Belle Isle Bank.
Marine interests are further advised that water levels are expected
to exceed the highest astronomical tide with high waves and pounding
surf, impacting some coastal areas of Northeast Coast and East Coast
Monday night into Tuesday morning, most significant near high tide.
