Issued 10:00 AM AST 1 February 2026 Today Tonight and Monday At 10:00 a.m. AST today intensifying low 982 mb located southwest
of the Marine District.
By 8:00 p.m. AST tonight low 968 mb located south of West Scotian
Slope.
At 3:00 a.m. AST Monday low 963 mb located over Laurentian Fan.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:39 AM AST 1 February 2026 An intensifying low pressure system will lie south of West Scotian
Slope by this evening. Gale to storm force east to northeast winds
will develop ahead of the low today. Winds will back to gale force
northerly and northwesterly as the low transits the southern slope
waters Sunday night.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Browns Bank, Georges Bank, southwestern shore, LaHave Bank, West
Scotian Slope, eastern shore, Sable, East Scotian Slope, Fourchu,
Banquereau and Laurentian Fan. Gale warnings are in effect for all
remaining waters except Northumberland Strait - western half,
Chaleur-Miscou, and Anticosti - western half.
Freezing spray warnings are in effect for Fundy, Gulf-Magdalen and
Anticosti.
A coastal flooding statement is in effect for the Nova Scotia
coastline from Yarmouth to Halifax for higher than normal water
levels at high tide Monday morning. A yellow coastal flooding warning
is also in effect for the Newfoundland coastline along cape ray -
Channel-Port aux Basques for Monday morning's high tide.
