Issued 3:39 PM PDT 16 August 2025 Conditions are favourable for the development of waterspouts.


Wind speeds inside the spray ring of a waterspout are 45 knots or higher. Vulnerable vessels are at risk of damage or capsizing. Keep in mind that waterspouts cannot be seen at night and may strike suddenly. Waterspouts are generally isolated in nature although they can also occur in families of two or more. Waterspouts are generally short-lived in nature, typically lasting 20 minutes or less.

Alaska panhandle.

At 4:00 a.m. PDT Sunday quasi-stationary trough located over the
offshore waters.


Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:58 PM PDT 16 August 2025 A low pressure system north of Haida Gwaii will continue to weaken
and move northwest. Gale force southwesterlies over Northern Hecate
and Dixon Entrance will ease this evening as the low moves off.

Also, a waterspout watch is in effect for central waters as well
As most of the North Coast. The risk of waterspouts is expected to
persist for northern waters on Sunday.
