Sonoma County

Areas Affected: Marin, CA - Napa, CA - Sonoma, CA
 
Alert Details:
* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...All of Marin, Sonoma, and Napa Counties.

* WHEN...Until 315 AM PST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 319 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain. This is causing urban and small stream
flooding. Between 3 and 11 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 8 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Santa Rosa, Napa, Petaluma, San Rafael, Novato, Rohnert Park,
Windsor, American Canyon, Mill Valley, San Anselmo, Larkspur,
Healdsburg, Sonoma, Corte Madera, Tiburon, Cloverdale,
Fairfax, Sebastopol, Cotati and Sausalito.

Information:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Areas Affected: San Francisco - Coastal North Bay Including Point Reyes National Seashore - San Francisco Peninsula Coast - Southern Monterey Bay and Big Sur Coast
 
Alert Details:
* WHAT...Large breaking waves between 14 to 19 ft along
southwest facing beaches and between 19 to 22 ft along well
exposed west facing beaches.

* WHERE...San Francisco, Coastal North Bay Including Point Reyes
National Seashore, San Francisco Peninsula Coast and Southern
Monterey Bay and Big Sur Coast Counties.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM PST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion. Large waves can sweep across the beach
without warning, pulling people into the sea from rocks, jetties
and beaches. Sudden immersion in cold water can result in cold
water shock even for the most experienced swimmers. Cold water
shock can result in dramatic changes in breathing, heart rate
and blood pressure, greatly increasing the risk of drowning in
rough open waters.

Information:
Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.

* WHAT...South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* WHERE...San Francisco, Marin Coastal Range, Sonoma Coastal
Range, North Bay Interior Mountains, North Bay Interior Valleys,
San Francisco Bay Shoreline, San Francisco Peninsula Coast

* WHEN...Until 6 AM PST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.
Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may
result.

Information:
Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Alert Details:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...The North Bay.

* WHEN...Through late Friday night.

* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings
may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Light to moderate rain is continuing across the watch area.
Two to four inches of rain have already fallen in the valley
regions with up to six inches of rain in the higher
elevations. Areas of the Sonoma County valleys have already
reported minor flooding and road closures.
